VX-10000

Have an LG VX-10000? We do over here. It IS actually better than the iPhone. With the possible exception of browsing; by browsing, we mean going to the majority of most websites with some form of flash in common use - the LG VX-10000, rather the Verizon branded LG Voyager, DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL NECESSARY ADOBE FLASH.

Bullshit.

When using the camera mode, you can take a pic when the phone is folded closed (the camera is on the "bottom" of the phone, actually kind of a stupid place for it) OR if it is flipped open; the two screens will switch over appropriately, UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR SUBJECT TO SEE THEMSELVES IN THE FRAME. Nope, they can't, unless you choose the option to add in the outer display for the shot - FOR EVERY SINGLE SHOT (fixed on last OTA update March 7th, 2008).

Video? The subject being shot on video WILL NOT SEE THEMSELVES on the outer display - NOT EVER; making it a craps shoot for self-shooting. Both the frame-shot and vid-shot problems would be solved by software TODAY, NOW, and a new cam placement IN THE LID FRONT, NOT THE PHONE BACK for a new version! Maybe a VX-11000 (not sure of the number, but a NEW model WILL be out around Summer 2008 quarter)?

Bullshit.

Now, the COOL stuff: Bluetooth stereo headphones OR somewhat regular 4-conductor sub-mini (2.5mm) headphones/mic (HAS to be that combo as straight old 3-conductor 2.5mm headphones only WILL NOT WORK very well (not loud enough and may only be in one ear), and the mic part of the old 3-conductor combo just won't work at all) . USING the correct headphone mic with proper connector WILL ACTUALLY ALLOW YOU TO LISTEN TO ALL AUDIO WITHOUT THE PHONE SPEAKERS ON! That includes now ALL V-Cast and Mobile TV audio portions!! Remember what a PAIN in the ASS the 8900 was? Not so in any of the older models - including the EnV and Chocolates and 9800 or less. Actually, this was NOT an LG decision, this was and always has been a Verizon DONGLED one.

As far as this new audio thing working, don't believe the Verizon store sales clerks when they tell you that the V-cast audio-for-video and Mobile TV audio doesn't work in the STEREO BLUETOOTH headphones - they are WRONG!
However, MobileWebTV and Vcast Audio and the audio of the Vcast video still does not go to the single mono earpieces, UNLESS you switch the audio by TRANSFERING it to the headset (wich is an option that must be reset each time you need/want it - BULLSHIT)

Speaking of Dongles, the data folders on a micro-SDHC+ are NOT available for view/drag and drop when in DATA mode, and ONLY the photo folders are available in the MEDIA mode of USB-to-PC connection.
You will also HAVE to pay for a 20.00 SDHC+ reader if you want to see anything on a microSDHC that is over 2GB! (hence the "+") 3GB and up REQUIRE a more advanced reader - the good thing for you Ludites is that even Windows2000 will automatically recognize the SDHC+ series USB drives.

ANOTHER good thing is that ALL of the 9800 series and up gadgets and accessories WILL work on the LG-10000 ! So go ahead and buy that $12.00 Power-thru-2.5mm headset/mic-1/8" headphone adaptor - it DOES work.

Another nice feature is USB-through-charging-while-phone-powering at the SAME TIME - the phone is powered seperately from the battery being charged! Just like back in 1985 when Erickson phones did that! I knew the Ameritech/Verizon merger would finally show us something good.

Mobile TV? Maybe - it works pretty good thanks to a totally separate from EVDO or G3 or cellular network system (another reason why you should get the Verizon service hooked to your iPhone), but the content is a JOKE. It has to be a joke - only 7 channels! (I do not count the demo setup channel!) Only SELECT programs are live, the rest are programmed re-runs from earlier in the week or day - Big Brother however is 24/7 live - which is kind of cool (the technology is the cool thing - we can't stand the show)
And it only works in Wheeling, Illinois. Or, maybe Chicago?

Other cool, fully-working and some not-so working things?

The Vibe-as-you-touch Top Lid touch-screen - 3 levels of vibe (the iPhone does NOT have that, yet)
and
The VZ Navigator (uses actual full GPS with Cellular Tower "triangulation" as a backup)
Nice touch!

What we want to see improved NOW, TODAY:

Add a "where am I now" online web feature to the VZ-NAV system in the phone so you can loacte your phone should you lose it!

Add WAY more Mobile TV channels for the somewhat insane price you now charge. ADD MORE channels or CHARGE WAY LESS for the 7 you offer now.

Add Sirius channels over the G3 Net (make it free if we are a Sirius subscriber, too), they already do it on Europe LG-10000

Make the present camera work better (mentioned above) TODAY through OTA programming - redesign the camera placement later (should be on the outer part of the lid for self camming and webcam use) - make the video automatically show on both the outer and inner screens (this should help to avoid upskirting). Use the camera as a light sensor. Make the display MUCH BRIGHTER for daylight and adjustable so that we can DIM THEM DOWN from there present brightness (actually too bright at night for some) - there is no way in Hell that you will ever see the outer screen in full daylight - impossible, and a horrific oversight on the designers' part! You should re-assign the lead designer for that mistake alone!
Make it so the camera can be recognized by Operating Systems - the circuitry and chip allows for it, just turn the damned feature ON!

ALLOW (UN-disable) ALL Java, javascript (please, it is at version 6 already, yours is version TWO!) and Flash download installing - websites will actually load faster and work - they do it in Japan - this would allow websites like http://www.qik.com to stream the phone's video LIVE! This would also allow people to browse band websites allowing for better market-to-purchase options for the consumer, while still using the V-Cast music store! This would also allow streaming audio and video players to WORK as intended, and would allow LIVE video camming on sites like uStream and NowLive and Sitckam.

LOWER the REALLY INSANE cost of the EVDO network. 60.00 per month is WAY too much to pay for what is NORMALLY 20kbps download! The WHOLE G3 Net is free in Japan and that is what they use for phone AND data! (They don't have EVDO there)
UN-DONGLE the phones present ability to Video record WHILE on a cellular call.
FIX the fact that when you start recording video that the video AUTO-SAVE OR KEEPS RECORDING when you close the phone or take a call or MAKE A CALL, message/receive messages. BOTTOM LINE: AUTO-SAVE AUTO-SAVE AUTO-SAVE
FIX while scrolling through messages, then deleting some, so the message scroll comes back; right now the phone goes back to standby every time you delete ONE message.
ALLOW for videos and pics to be PREVIEWED FULL SCREEN before committing to a Save or Erase and let it be accomplished from while viewing (or paused if in video); as it is now, we have to guess which video it is we want to erase - the little icons don't show enough, especially if the user has several video scens that essentially start out the same way.

ALLOW Outlook Calendar and Contact SYNC - they do it in Japan and the UK - incl down under, mate!

Jeff Paul

The Jeff Paul's sales-pitch girls (the girls with the HUGE boobs). I cannot decide which if those girls' boobs I want to play with first; the blonde or the brunette?

By your comments, please help me choose which pair of boobs should I play with first!

And, of course, by "play with" I mean fuck.

Maxthon2 2.0.6.9xxx

I hadn't noticed Maxthon2 doing much of anything in the way of changes or patches recently, due simply they just haven't needed to patch lately. Good job. So they are not following Firefox's lead in patch times (5 in the last 4 weeks).

No one thing I have noticed about (at least the latest update to .9xxx) is that Maxthon2 NO LONGER recognizes hidden files. Up until this latest update, I have had the WHOLE Maxthon2 folder and ALL contents HIDDEN in WinXP Pro and Maxthon2 has had ZERO problems. Now, with the newest update applied (installed over itself), Maxthon2 can NOT find hidden files in its own folder.

Just not acceptable. It worked before the update and should STILL BE WORKING.

Also, the latest update reveals that certain settings are PUT BACK to original condition - again, entirely NOT acceptable, as in; the default download folder is changed BACK to within Shared users folder insides the Maxthon2 folder! Maxthon and Maxthon 2 tout their ability to NOT install OVER previous user settings, and yet this latest update certainly DOES.

So, perhaps Maxthon WILL be following the lead of Firefox after all - in update frequency, as I doubt Firefox will ever catch up to the other par excellence of Maxthon or Maxthon2 !

Spammers' Spamming was Clogging the Blogging

I will repost my one-word movie titles tomorrow. The problem of Spammers attacking blogger.com is now fixed (for good?).

I have a suggestion - all blogger.com accounts (old and new) should be forced into "Word Verification = ON" by default.

Who is taking over Easy?

"HEY, dude! What"s with the name change?"

I took the name from a company that was apparently - for 6 months - either out of business or freakishly absent from the web, adding further mystery and intrigue to the WWW, and my lawyer advised me that since I do not sell products using this blog and websidestory.com does, I do not have to give them my blog name. So I will not. Not that there will be any future problems from said company, it's just that MY lawyer advises ME, and I usually follow that advise. Good hunting and be thinking Caddyshack 2 if you need to know what my lawyer is like.
